Councils across England are to receive extra funding of £1.6 billion, taking the total additional monies Councils have received since the pandemic began to £3.2 billion.
This funding will help Councils, including South Derbyshire District Council, deal with the immediate pressures created by the virus, continue to provide essential services and also support vulnerable people who need their help during this difficult time.
Heather Wheeler MP said, “I welcome this additional funding. Our local councils are on the frontline in dealing with Coronavirus and the Chancellor made it very clear he would ensure Councils had the money they needed to support their communities. They have been doing a fantastic job keeping essential services running and dealing with the issues which have arisen and the extra funds will ensure they are able to continue with their good work.
I would like to thank our Council staff and local volunteers for all they are doing supporting people across South Derbyshire, helping protect the vulnerable and keeping services running. They are doing an amazing job.”
