I had the pleasure of taking The Lord Chancellor Chris Grayling to an expanding company on the Boardman Estate, Swadlincote, on Friday 24th April.
Windle Vehicle Services have expanded over the last 5 years, and now Apprentice Alex has joined Andrew and Adam Windle as their first Apprentice.
Andrew said “We specialise in servicing French cars and have a good name, we have customers driving from Loughborough to us. This solid core of work has meant that we needed to expand so taking on Alex as our first Apprentice has been the way for our company to grow. We are looking to take another Apprentice on in a years time.”
Chris said “I was really pleased that Heather showed me this specialist company and it was great to meet the Windle family and Alex. They appreciate how hard Heather has represented them in Westminster, pushing for low tax for small businesses and making the taking on of Apprentices an enjoyable experience”.
It was very kind of Chris to travel all the way from Surrey to visit us. I could have taken him to see one of our famous large auto companies that have excelled with Apprentices, but thought a newly expanding small firm like Windle Vehicle Services in Swadlincote would give Chris a really good idea of how businesses in South Derbyshire have coped with the recession and are coming out the other side.
