Today we are greeted by the outstanding news that South Derbyshire’s unemployment figures have fallen again. When I was first elected to Parliament in May 2010, the unemployment figures stood at 1,540, and now after five years of Conservative led government it has reduced to less than 500.
Since I last commented on the announced unemployment figures there are 21 more residents of South Derbyshire in work. This means 21 more families have the security and stability of receiving a working wage.
I know over the next five years South Derbyshire can continue to build on this trend of falling unemployment and I, as its re-elected Member of Parliament, will work to achieve full employment and continue to support our local businesses as they take on additional staff.
