On Wednesday 8th July the Prime Minister joined me in congratulating the workforce at Bombardier for securing their future for the next 35 years with a £358 million pound contract to supply 45 more trains for London.
The successes we have seen in Derbyshire over recent years from companies such as Bombardier prove that we are at the heart of the Midlands Engine which is driving the UK economy forward out of the uncertain financial times we saw under the last Labour government and into sustainable economic growth. Real people making real things, a manufacturing revolution here in the Midlands.
I am delighted the Prime Minister joined me in recognising Bombardier and their hard work in ensuring job security and job generation across Derbyshire and in particular South Derbyshire, whether you are part of the supply chain in Ashbourne or Swadlincote this contract will make a massive difference to your workforce.
