On Wednesday 15th July I attended an ADS event in Parliament showcasing some of their apprentices. The event was to celebrate the amazing 9,000 apprenticeships provided by the UK’s aerospace, defence, security and space industries.
It was such an important reception at Parliament and I was delighted to attend. The 9,000 strong apprenticeships available across our country show just how much our industries believe in the future of Britain in training the next generation of engineers. In South Derbyshire we have benefitted from an increase in opportunities for our young people with more apprenticeships from Toyota, Nestle, Rolls Royce, Futaba as well as from some of our smaller companies. The young people I met were excited to be learning new skills and enjoying being a part of Britain’s up and coming manufacturing sector. They are great ambassadors for the UK’s advanced manufacturing industries. It was a real pleasure to meet Heather from Mickleover who is an Apprentice at Rolls Royce, Derby.
