University Hospitals of Derby and Burton is to reintroduce visiting restrictions. The Trust has seen a significant increase in admissions for patients who are Covid-19 positive and expects the number to rise further. From today the Trust is asking visitors not to attend the hospitals, unless:
- Accompanying a child
- Visiting a patient undergoing end of life care
- Accompanying vulnerable patients, specifically those with learning disabilities, dementia, mental health or complex needs, as well as those who are unable to make decisions for themselves
The visiting changes recently made for Maternity services are not affected by the restrictions at this time.
The new visiting restrictions will be distressing for many families. However, the safety of those patients here is our highest priority and with the prevalence of Covid-19 in our communities and the number of inpatients rising we need to take action now.
They are putting measures in place for keeping in touch with friends and families remotely that were available earlier in the year so please bear with us while we do so.
