In Parliament on Wednesday 15th July I attended the launch of the 2020 Skin Cancer Visions. The 2020 Skin Cancer Visions is a new manifesto from the Melanoma Taskforce which sets out how skin cancer care and services should evolve over the next five years to provide the best results for patients. The report advises:
• The need for a national prevention campaign for skin cancer, including the importance of Sun Safety.
• Ensuring there is adequate funding and support for Skin Cancer Nurse Specialists.
• Making sure exciting new advances in skin cancer treatment are made available to patients as soon as possible.
I was delighted to attend the launch of the 2020 Skin Cancer Visions. This important report shows what we need to do in order to continue to build on the advances in skin cancer treatment we have seen in recent years. The Conservative Party manifesto promised to provide the extra £8 billion requested by the NHS Chief Executive. This extra money will ensure that cancer patients will continue to receive the excellent care and treatment our NHS provides.
I will always support cancer services and the betterment of treatments for those affected by this terrible disease as well as the great work charities do in supporting cancer victims, their families and conducting research into one day finding a cure. With the massive affect the Colin Bloomfield Apppeal has made locally it was a pleasure to meet some of the hard working people involved.
