Hannah Mills of Walton-On-Trent, an apprentice at Volkswagen, was recently awarded the ‘VW Apprentice Technician of the Year. Miss Mills has also been put forward for other awards and is taking part in an exhibition to highlight ‘Women in a Man’s World’.
This is brilliant news and I congratulate Hannah on her achievement of being named Apprentice Technician of the year for Volkswagen. Hannah is a perfect example of how apprenticeships offer great opportunities to young people and that going direct to University is not the only option. During the Coalition Government we helped get a million people into an apprenticeship, this was a fantastic achievement, but as a government we have promised to do even more by helping to create and support two million apprenticeships.
I will continue to work hard to help create and build on the already fantastic apprenticeship opportunities we have in South Derbyshire, our businesses are definitely leading the way in this field.
