On Friday 28th October I visited the Swadlincote based company ‘First Fence’ after they had recently won the 2016 Burton Mail Award for ‘Best Use of Innovation and Technology’. First Fence is a company that manufactures a variety of temporary and permanent security fences, its Swadlincote premises are one of three in the country.
It was a real pleasure to visit First Fence in Swadlincote, the company has gone from strength-to-strength since moving to their new premises from Drakelow, creating many new jobs for local people.
They are a company which not only sells to the whole of the UK but also exports internationally, it’s a strong sign that the UK export market is continuing to grow despite the anti-Brexit naysayers. The facilities in Swadlincote are truly amazing after their large investment in the new site and their installation of high-tech IT software and equipment.
I want to also take this opportunity to congratulate them again on their well-deserved award for ‘Best Use of Innovation and Technology’ at the Burton Mail awards 2016. Meeting the owners and the young members of staff driving forward their new IT work in conjunction with their traditional fencing products I have no doubt First Fence will continue to expand and provide good quality jobs and products, I look forward to them staying in our vibrant South Derbyshire economy.
