Back in September 2017, Heather Wheeler MP nominated Rob Taylor, Head Chef at The Boot in Repton, for the Parliamentary Pub Chef of the Year award 2017/2018 which was sponsored by Nestle Professional and The British Beer and Pub Association.
Rob competed against 135 chefs from across the country and was assessed by an expert panel. He won in the Young Pub Chef category for The East Midlands Region and Heather was delighted to be able to present him with his certificate.
Heather Wheeler said:
“We are so lucky in South Derbyshire to have such a talented chef, producing consistently wonderful food, in one of our local pubs. It is all the more amazing knowing he took up the profession almost by accident. When The Boot was being extended Rob was labouring there and helped out the head chef when he was short staffed and discovered his love of cooking. He did four years training and the result is food which not only tastes good but is presented beautifully.
Rob can feel justifiably proud of his achievement.”
