The National Grid are doing a fantastic job working with Gas and Energy companies to keep the lights on and energy and gas flowing. These companies have been working round the clock to keep things running whilst also helping customers and communities. In light of the current challenges, they have launched a new voluntary scheme, encouraging employees to volunteer half a day every week to help vital organisations.
Helping those in need and volunteering time for organisations like the NHS Volunteer Responder Programme is great news. So far over 750,000 people have volunteered to help the NHS, which is an outstanding level of support.
Furthermore, to help those impacted by the Coronavirus, Energy companies are providing free additional services to customers in vulnerable circumstances. This is to help those at risk particularly if you have received a letter from the NHS advising you to take additional measures. This additional service providing help for vulnerable people will help those impacted most. I would also like to thank all volunteers in South Derbyshire for the work they are doing to help local communities, neighbours, family and friends in this difficult time. The kindness and community spirit in South Derbyshire has really stood out and helped so many people. With companies like the National Grid, Cadent and others encouraging employees to take time and volunteer it really has made a difference and I commend all the work everyone is doing during this pandemic.
