I am pleased to see a massive increase in the number of people being tested for the coronavirus in South Derbyshire and the rest of the UK. It now stands at 200,000 people a day which shows incredible progress. We have recently updated information on people eligible to get tested to now include anyone with symptoms but are still giving priority to essential workers.
None essential workers testing:
If you have symptoms or a member of your household does and you would like to book an appointment for them, please visit the NHS website at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/ask-for-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/. Please only apply for a test if you have symptoms. It is important to get tested as soon as possible, preferably within 3 days of showing symptoms.
Essential workers testing:
If you are an essential worker and have symptoms of the coronavirus then please book a test by visiting https://www.gov.uk/apply-coronavirus-test-essential-workers, alternatively you can apply for a drive through test by visiting https://test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/appointment. Again please remember this is only if you have symptoms.
The test is quick an easy and involves a swab of the nose and back of the throat, home testing kits can be delivered to your door so you can conduct the test without leaving your house. The number of mobile testing units has also been increasing to help test as many people as possible.
If you would like more information on testing or if you are an employer wanting to refer someone then more information is available on the government website at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested?
