Combining classroom along with practical skills can be an invaluable tool to peoples development and future careers. The new T-levels do this by providing a world-class alternative to A levels, combining classroom theory, practical learning and industry placement. The government have announced a further 88 education providers to deliver T levels, including Burton and South Derbyshire College in 2022/23.
T levels will provide people with unique experience and skills in a variety of industries and subjects including law, manufacturing, engineering to even Health and Science. I believe that having a combination of practical skills, industry experience and classroom theory will upskill workers and boost the economy. By doing a T-level you will gain at least 45 days industry placement and once you have passed the course you can gain UCAS points to go to University or you can continue into a higher apprenticeship or go straight into work.
Countries such as Germany have previously placed a great emphasis in technical skills and the T levels announced will put us on the world stage and provide a fantastic alternative to A levels. T levels will officially be rolled out in September this year and gradually expand over the coming years as education providers sign up and new subjects become available. Derby College will have T levels on offer this September for students interested in Construction, Digital production and Education and Childcare.
Burton and South Derbyshire College already have many fantastic and useful courses on offer, helping young people develop and progress their career and these new courses will again provide an excellent boost, open up opportunities and give young people to vital skills and experience they need to enter the workforce of tomorrow.
