Our local high streets are an important part of our community. I have always believed in supporting local businesses and supporting our high streets, that is why I am pleased to see a package of support being launched today ahead of shops reopening on Monday the 15th of June.
To help shops open up next week, the High Streets Task Force will provide training, information and advice, and cutting-edge tools to help shops reopen. It is not just focusing on support to reopen after coronavirus but also help transform our high streets and city centres long term through this 4-year programme.
£50 million Reopening High Streets Safely Fund was also announced to support Councils including South Derbyshire to help reopen high streets and commercial areas safely.
Next week we will see shops all over South Derbyshire including in places like Swadlincote, along with markets and outdoor attractions open. I will do all I can to support local businesses especially after facing such challenging times. Our High streets are central to local communities and I am pleased to see government support and look forward to them reopening next week.
