Sunday saw the first commercial passenger flight out of East Midlands Airport after nearly 13 weeks. The way we fly and travel will be very different for some time. Countries are slowly lifting restrictions and opening their border, but this doesn’t mean the coronavirus has vanished, we must still take care especially when traveling.
It is now compulsory to wear a face covering on public transport including on flights from the UK. This will help stop the spread and make it safer for everyone when traveling. If you are going abroad, please do remember to check the Foreign office website for information on where you are traveling to so you are fully aware of current restrictions, https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. Also, because of the FCO advice do double check with your travel Insurers and car insurers as appropriate. There are also currently restrictions in place for when you return to the UK.
To save time and to help stop the spread it has been recommended that you check-in online before arriving at the airport, there will also be an increase in self-service and measures to reduce contact with people and surfaces. If you are taking someone to the airport please note that only those traveling will be allowed to enter and when there you should follow guidelines and remember to stick to social distancing measures and remain apart where possible.
Airlines will have put in various measures on board, this may include a reduced onboard service. The airlines will advise you on changes but it is important that you wear a face covering at all times unless eating, drinking, taking medication or communicating with someone who relies on lip reading.
It is welcoming to see restrictions carefully being lifted, borders opening and planes flying once again. Things will be different and social measures will still be in place. If you are traveling anytime soon I hope you have a pleasant journey.
