Heather Wheeler MP is delighted to let you know about the free help and support from the UK Small Business Commissioner, Liz Barclay, to all small business constituents. With the cost of doing business still rising it’s more important now more than ever that small suppliers get paid as quickly as possible by their customers, so that they can pay their bills, wages and their own suppliers and to ensure their future viability.
Small businesses and business owners are an integral part of South Derbyshire and it is vital that they are treated with respect and given the all the necessary support they require. This why Heather encourages all small business owners to make use of the support offered by Liz Barclay and her hardworking team.
The Office of the Small Business Commissioner is an independent public body established under the Enterprise Act 2016 to tackle late payments and unfavourable payment practices across the UK private sector. They consider complaints from small businesses about payment problems they have with their larger customers and can make recommendations on how the parties should resolve their disputes. Their work has helped secure more than £8 million in overdue payments since December 2017.
Their website also offers a range of self-help tools, to assist small businesses negotiate fair payment terms for instance.
