I was touched to be invited to another memorial dedication in Hilton on the 4th of August, a more intimate affair in Roma's Garden by the Hilton and Marsden History Group.
Roma's Garden is a piece of land that has been painstakingly restored by the Hilton Gardening Club in dedication of Roma Walton, who had given of her time so freely to village causes.
The Club along with the Methodist Church arranged for the memorial to be donated and for the ceremony to occur.
This ceremony was particularly poignant as the unveiling of the memorial sundial and plaque was undertaken by Mr Tarbard, who lost his son Wayne in the fighting in the Falklands. Mr Tarbard was accompanied by his daughter, Maxine Harlow, who is a tireless campaigner for Help the Heroes locally and some of his grandchildren.
