Monday, the 4th of August, was the anniversary of one hundred years to the day that war was declared by Germany on Belgium marking the beginning of World War One.
I was honoured to be a guest at the Service of Remembrance and unveiling of the new memorial, dedicated to those who lost their lives in service of their country from Hilton, Hoon and Marston-on-Dove.
The whole service was excellent, there were serving members of the forces, families and friends of the fallen, a choir singing war time songs as well as lots of local residents joining together to remember the past.
